Laporan mengenai cahaya misterius ini muncul tak hanya di Inggris, Skotlandia juga menerima laporan menyatakan peristiwa ini terjadi pada 19.40 waktu setempat. Beberapa warga yakin itu adalah tabrakan pesawat.
Namun BMKG Inggris memastikan, “Jika ada yang melihat sesuatu di langit, kami yakin itu adalah meteorit.” Kielder Observatory juga memastikan, penampakan itu adalah bola api yang melintas dari utara ke selatan Northumberland.
Menurut Dr David White seperti dilaporkan DM, “Potongan batu luar angkasa itu diperkirakan dari Mars dan Yupiter. Ada puluhan ribu batu yang mengorbit planet tersebut dan beberapa di antaranya bisa saja jatuh ke Bumi.” [mor]
